SJAINESTATES

The Farm

Seven working units, one soil

Forest, orchard, field, dairy, mushroom, glasshouse and water — each unit feeds the next, and all of them feed the kitchen.

Farm Units

What happens where

Every unit runs on a published calendar. Guests and chefs can watch, walk in, or order against it.

Native Forest

Zone A

Native Forest

Thirty-eight percent of the estate is left alone. It holds the water table, shades the orchard edge and feeds the birds that keep our pest pressure low.

Orchards

Zone A

Orchards

Mango, guava, jackfruit, lime, papaya, coconut and trial rows of avocado and dragon fruit — drip irrigated, mulched, hand-picked.

Field Agriculture

Field Blocks

Field Agriculture

Rice, wheat, pulses and millets in kharif and rabi rotation, with green manure between cycles.

Dairy

Zone D

Dairy

An eighteen-head Gir herd on estate fodder. Milk moves from parlour to churn house in under an hour.

Mushroom House

Zone D

Mushroom House

Oyster, milky and button flushes in climate-controlled rooms on pasteurised estate straw.

Greenhouse & Polyhouse

Zone C

Greenhouse & Polyhouse

Salad leaves, herbs, cherry tomato, capsicum and cucumber cut to order for the kitchen and for chefs.

Water Bodies

Zone B

Water Bodies

A reservoir, two ponds and a network of recharge pits. Every roof and road drains back into the ground.

Practice

Low input, long memory

No calendar spraying, no bare soil, no monoculture blocks. Compost from the dairy, mulch from the orchard floor, and rotation planned three seasons ahead.

Compost and slurry from the dairy return to every block

Mulched orchard floors; cover crops between field cycles

Drip and micro-sprinkler across 100% of irrigated area

Bird perches and hedgerows instead of routine pesticide

Estate lab checks on milk, water and soil each month

Follow a batch
